Top 10 Useless Body Parts

10. Plica semilunaris
You may not know it, but you have a third eyelid. Pull open the two more noticeable eyelids and take a look -- it's located right in the corner by the tear duct. This small third eyelid is left over from what's known as a "nictitating membrane," which is still present in full form in some animals including chickens, lizards and sharks.

9. Body hair
No doubt we were once hairier. Up until about 3 million years ago, we were covered with body hair. But by the time Homo erectus arrived, the ability to sweat meant we could shed our woolly ways.

8. Sinuses
Doctors don't really know much about sinuses -- only that we have a lot of them. Possibilities for their function range from insulating our eyes to changing the pitch and tone of our voice.

7. Adenoids
Adenoids trap bacteria, but they're also prone to swelling and infection. Just ask any 7-year-old. Luckily, our adenoids shrink with age and are often removed, along with ...

6. Tonsils
Also prone to swelling and infection. If you still have them when you reach your 30s, it's almost an accomplishment.

5. Coccyx
More useful as a game-winning Scrabble word than as part of the anatomy, the coccyx, or tailbone, is made up of several fused vertebrae left over from the olden days when we had tails

4. Arrector pili
When we were hairier (see No. 9), the arrector pili made the hairs stand on end when we needed to appear bigger and scarier. Now, it just gives us goose bumps.

3. Wisdom teeth
Back in the day, when we ate mammoth meat off the bone and didn't floss afterward, our teeth tended to fall out. Therefore, when those reserve molars, aka "wisdom teeth," came in, they were welcomed. Nowadays, fluoride and dental plans have made them just a huge pain.

2. Appendix
Darwin claimed the appendix was useful for digestion during our early plant-eating years; it's dwindled down to little since we started eating more digestible foods.

1. Nipples on men Nipples appear on men because all embryos effectively start out as "female." The Y chromosome and testosterone are what make an embryo male. But nipples form before the testosterone comes into play, so the nipples remain.

The Quiet Cancers

Your doctor has given you the lowdown on how to protect yourself against breast, colon, and lung cancer. But when was the last time she asked if you had any persistent mouth sores, unexplained fevers or joint pain, or discomfort during sex? These can be symptoms of three cancers—oral, leukemia, and endometrial—that don't get the attention they deserve. Even though they are among the most common cancers affecting women over age 55, these diseases can fall through the cracks as doctors focus on the biggest killers hogging the health headlines, says Elmer Huerta, M.D., president of the American Cancer Society.

Read more for the facts behind these quiet dangers—and the simple ways you can protect yourself.

Oral Cancer
Your Risk: 1 in 98, with diagnoses peaking between the ages of 55 and 65. Oral cancer is lethal more often than it needs to be because people tend to ignore symptoms (it's typically caught in late stages).

Stay healthy: Watch your mouth—see a dentist or doctor about any sore in your mouth or on your lips that doesn't clear up in two weeks. A change in color or persistent pain, tenderness, or numbness anywhere in your mouth or on your lips should also prompt a fast visit.

Curb your vices: About 75 percent of oral cancers are caused by smoking and drinking alcohol. When such habits were considered unladylike, men with oral cancer outnumbered women 6 to 1, says Sol Silverman Jr., D.D.S., a professor of oral medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry. "But in the last 50 years, the incidence in women has soared—now the ratio is two men to every woman." Limit your intake to one drink per day.

Guard your lips: They need protection, too. Sunscreen isn't exactly tasty, so choose a balm with SPF and then apply your favorite gloss or lipstick.

The good news: Researchers at Ohio State University recently found that phytochemicals extracted from Hass avocados could kill or stop the growth of oral cancer cells. The study was done in test tubes, but there's no need to wait for confirmation—bring on the guacamole!

rotavirus (I'm in recovring) :(

Understanding Rotavirus
Rotaviruses are members of the Reoviridae family of viruses. Rotavirus is a double-stranded RNA (ribonucleic acid) virus. A rotavirus has a characteristic wheel-like appearance when viewed by electron microscopy. The name rotavirus is derived from the Latin word "rota," meaning "wheel" (see Rotavirus Pictures
).

There are a number of different strains of rotavirus that cause infections in humans; four strains are common in the United States. Therefore, people can be infected with rotavirus more than once, but usually, the first infection is the most severe, and each subsequent infection causes less severe symptoms of the disease.
What is rotavirus disease?
Rotavirus is a very common contagious viral infection. It is the most common cause of severe gastroenteritis in infants and young children worldwide. Nearly all children have been infected with a rotavirus illness at some stage before they are five years of age, and can be re-infected several times during their lives.

How does rotavirus spread?
Rotavirus enters the body through the mouth and then infects the lining of the intestine. Rotavirus is spread easily from children who are already infected to other children and sometimes adults. The virus can be easily spread through contaminated hands, objects (toys) or food. Children can spread rotavirus 2 days before and up to 8 days after they become sick with diarrhoea.

Ways of preventing the spread of rotavirus disease are:
• Vaccinate infants with the rotavirus vaccine, RotaTeq®, according to the National Immunisation Program guidelines
• Exclude affected child from childcare, preschool, or school until vomiting and diarrhoea has stopped
• Good hand washing
• Keep objects (toys) and areas clean.

How long does it take to show symptoms of rotavirus after being infected?
The incubation period for rotavirus is 1 to 3 days.

What are the symptoms of rotavirus infection?
Symptoms usually start with a temperature, an upset stomach, vomiting followed by diarrhoea, lasting 3 to 7 days. Children may lose interest in eating and drinking and become dehydrated from loss of fluids.

Is there treatment for rotavirus disease?
No,antibiotics are not effective, so give plenty of fluids.

How to make staying at hospital enjoyable?

If you had to stay at hospital either as a patient or just a company, You can have fun too! This is my standard for fun-full hospital staying

Let's start with the most important, the patient.

1- have things that you likes at your home. It's ok if you want to bring your own pillow, but ask the hospital management because some hospital policy does not allow such a thing..

2- take your best book with you. Even if you are not a fan of reading, just take it. It could help you!!

3- it's ok to ask people you likes to come by. May be they have something else blocked them. If they knew that you need them they'll come ;)

4- Have a tour in the hospital. If you were-God forbidden- a patient still can move your legs and the doctor allow mobility, why you stay in the bed all the time. It'll make you sicker :s

5-You don't have to deal with people you doesn't like in such a situation. Tell them you are tired and they will leave. Even though don't forget they come to see you so, may be they love you. Give them another chance.

6- DO NOT forget that you have mercy ALLAH (God). Ask Allah for anything. Talk with him in the pray and listen to him by reading the Quran.

7-deal with your pain. Believe that you are in pain therefore you'll try to deal with it. If you still denial it more n more you won't be able to find the right why to live with it.

8-it's ok to feel down sometimes. But don't let that feeling takes you far away. You are a human being. You have so many different feelings. You must try each single one to know the difference between them. Therefore you can enjoy other good feelings.

Finally I hope you healthful life :)

Know, let's talk about the assistant:

1-you doing a great job and to feel good, do what you suppose to do. Do what you leave your space for. Don't sit helpless there. Give the patient every assistant he/she needs. That’s why you are here. Aren't you?!

2-if you don't like hospital don't stay there. Leave the chance for another person, who will be more helpful than you. It's better for you and absolutely better for him/her.

3-have your favorite things too. It's harder to stuck there without anything to do. (when the patient fall asleep or so)

4- have your own time. Believe me it'll give you Patience for keep going. You can ask some one for stay for awhile.

5- pray for the patient. isn't that the reason why u stay there?!

One day, may be I'll write a book about these Thoughts

How to Stay YOUNG?? NOT only for females

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight, and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is yourself. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. about myself: I'm really enjoy doing such a thing ;)

"Remember, growing older is mandatory; growing up is optional." cuz of that, call your friend to come over & hangout by the BIKE
