rotavirus (I'm in recovring) :(

Understanding Rotavirus
Rotaviruses are members of the Reoviridae family of viruses. Rotavirus is a double-stranded RNA (ribonucleic acid) virus. A rotavirus has a characteristic wheel-like appearance when viewed by electron microscopy. The name rotavirus is derived from the Latin word "rota," meaning "wheel" (see Rotavirus Pictures
).

There are a number of different strains of rotavirus that cause infections in humans; four strains are common in the United States. Therefore, people can be infected with rotavirus more than once, but usually, the first infection is the most severe, and each subsequent infection causes less severe symptoms of the disease.
What is rotavirus disease?
Rotavirus is a very common contagious viral infection. It is the most common cause of severe gastroenteritis in infants and young children worldwide. Nearly all children have been infected with a rotavirus illness at some stage before they are five years of age, and can be re-infected several times during their lives.

How does rotavirus spread?
Rotavirus enters the body through the mouth and then infects the lining of the intestine. Rotavirus is spread easily from children who are already infected to other children and sometimes adults. The virus can be easily spread through contaminated hands, objects (toys) or food. Children can spread rotavirus 2 days before and up to 8 days after they become sick with diarrhoea.

Ways of preventing the spread of rotavirus disease are:
• Vaccinate infants with the rotavirus vaccine, RotaTeq®, according to the National Immunisation Program guidelines
• Exclude affected child from childcare, preschool, or school until vomiting and diarrhoea has stopped
• Good hand washing
• Keep objects (toys) and areas clean.

How long does it take to show symptoms of rotavirus after being infected?
The incubation period for rotavirus is 1 to 3 days.

What are the symptoms of rotavirus infection?
Symptoms usually start with a temperature, an upset stomach, vomiting followed by diarrhoea, lasting 3 to 7 days. Children may lose interest in eating and drinking and become dehydrated from loss of fluids.

Is there treatment for rotavirus disease?
No,antibiotics are not effective, so give plenty of fluids.

How to make staying at hospital enjoyable?

If you had to stay at hospital either as a patient or just a company, You can have fun too! This is my standard for fun-full hospital staying

Let's start with the most important, the patient.

1- have things that you likes at your home. It's ok if you want to bring your own pillow, but ask the hospital management because some hospital policy does not allow such a thing..

2- take your best book with you. Even if you are not a fan of reading, just take it. It could help you!!

3- it's ok to ask people you likes to come by. May be they have something else blocked them. If they knew that you need them they'll come ;)

4- Have a tour in the hospital. If you were-God forbidden- a patient still can move your legs and the doctor allow mobility, why you stay in the bed all the time. It'll make you sicker :s

5-You don't have to deal with people you doesn't like in such a situation. Tell them you are tired and they will leave. Even though don't forget they come to see you so, may be they love you. Give them another chance.

6- DO NOT forget that you have mercy ALLAH (God). Ask Allah for anything. Talk with him in the pray and listen to him by reading the Quran.

7-deal with your pain. Believe that you are in pain therefore you'll try to deal with it. If you still denial it more n more you won't be able to find the right why to live with it.

8-it's ok to feel down sometimes. But don't let that feeling takes you far away. You are a human being. You have so many different feelings. You must try each single one to know the difference between them. Therefore you can enjoy other good feelings.

Finally I hope you healthful life :)

Know, let's talk about the assistant:

1-you doing a great job and to feel good, do what you suppose to do. Do what you leave your space for. Don't sit helpless there. Give the patient every assistant he/she needs. That’s why you are here. Aren't you?!

2-if you don't like hospital don't stay there. Leave the chance for another person, who will be more helpful than you. It's better for you and absolutely better for him/her.

3-have your favorite things too. It's harder to stuck there without anything to do. (when the patient fall asleep or so)

4- have your own time. Believe me it'll give you Patience for keep going. You can ask some one for stay for awhile.

5- pray for the patient. isn't that the reason why u stay there?!

One day, may be I'll write a book about these Thoughts
